Multimillion-dollar Everglades Redevelopment Project Approved!23.06.2020 10:18
Port Everglades is one of the largest ports in the United States, located in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Also, it is often referred to simply as "Port of Fort Lauderdale". This port is an alternative to the port in Miami, as it is located only 48 km from the international airport and 47 km from the center of Miami. Fort Lauderdale also has its own international airport and many tourists often prefer it. Personally, Fort Lauderdale Airport is much more pleasant for its convenience, location and size. Also, from Fort Lauderdale Airport to the Everglades Port is only 4.5 km.

For the Port of Everglades, Fort Gates Ukraine has learned, a 20-year development and complete renovation plan has been confirmed and is one of the largest projects in Broward County.

Broward County Mayor Dale VS said: “This 20-year renewal is an overarching and strategic milestone for the port's future growth and progress. Cruise ships, cargo ships and other vessels generate billions of dollars in turnover and create thousands of jobs. It will also spur small business development and prosperity throughout the county. Despite the global COVID-19 pandemic, the port has not lost profitability, which makes us confident in the development of the port. "

The general development plan includes 50 projects, half of which will have to be implemented in the next 5 years. Key points include:

- Expansion of the Southport Turning Zone, which will increase the current turning area of vessels from 900 to 2,400 feet. This is the largest construction project in the history of the port at $ 471 million.

“In addition to the three new Super Post-Panamax container cranes currently in production and due to be commissioned by the end of this year, the port has the opportunity to purchase three more of the same cranes.

- The US Army Corps of Engineers Navigation Improvement Project to Deepen and Expand Canals received Congressional approval in December 2016.

- Expansion of part of the port to accommodate larger oil tankers.

- Center Point Properties is completing the construction of a modern International Logistics Center on 17 acres of the port to replace the port's aging Outer Trade Zone facility. The construction of the two-story complex is scheduled to be completed by September 2020.

- The new passenger port with 1,818 seats, intended for cruise terminals 2 and 4, is due to be commissioned in October 2020. It has more lifts, an air-conditioned bridge and moving walkways for transporting guests to Terminal 2.

- There are plans to overhaul four cruise terminals and add a marina to increase the port's capacity for larger cruise ships.

- People Mover will connect Ft Lauderdale Hollywood International Airport with the Port of Everglades and the Greater Fort Lauderdale / Broward County Convention Center. Numerous road improvements are also planned to reduce congestion.

All this will make the port even more attractive for both cruise companies and tourists.

And we, in turn, are waiting for the renewal !!!
