Messi's new role comes following the recent announcement of a new partnership between Royal Caribbean and Inter Miami CF, in which the cruise line is the club's primary partner and official vacation partner. Royal Caribbean and Inter Miami CF also said they will celebrate Icon's arrival in the next phase of the partnership, details of which will be revealed later.

“Icon of the Seas is the culmination of more than 50 years of experience creating memorable vacations, and is set to live up to its name in more ways than one when it transforms the vacation industry in January 2024,” said Michael Bailey, President and CEO. “It is this ability to have such a wide impact that an Icon of an Icon should embody, and Lionel Messi has proven to be a great example of this over the years in the world of sports, and most recently, ushering in a new era of excitement and passion for soccer in Miami and the United States.”
