Costa Cruises took over the new ship Costa Smeralda at the Meyer shipyard, Finland, where the ship was built.
The new liner will embark on its first week-long cruise on December 21 from Savona visiting Marseille, Barcelona, Palma de Mallorca, Civitavecchia and La Spezia
The liner will operate this route until May 16, 2020.
Costa Smeralda is the first ship to run on liquefied natural gas.
