Cruise Line Designers Prepare for Major Change28.04.2020 11:19
In response to COVID-19, leading cruise ship architects and designers are hard at work on a number of potential changes on board.
AMK Architecture & Design presented a number of possible solutions they are working on to reduce the need for touching surfaces on the liner and make interrupting passengers on the liner even safer.
AMK Architecture & Design offers the following solutions:
Design surfaces that are frequently touched by people that are resistant to viruses.
Form the layout of the liner in such a way as to provide a safe and remote flow of passengers and crew without compromising socialization.
Equip public areas and corridors with new antimicrobial carpets.
Convert all entrances and exits to automatic doors with photocells to avoid unnecessary points of contact.
Modify bathrooms so that touch control of faucets can be used.
Other changes they are working on will be restaurants and buffets in terms of table sizes and spacing, and are also considering the option of spacers installed between tables.
The design firm is also preparing pool concepts using changing cabins instead of lines of sun loungers. And they suggest changing entertainment to more open show theaters with weather protection.
