Scenic Group has announced the start of construction of the Scenic Eclipse II in Croatia!15.05.2020 23:40
Despite the difficult situation caused by the COVID-19 virus in the world, cruise companies do not refuse to replenish their fleet.
This is how Scenic Group announced the start of construction of the Scenic Eclipse II liner in Croatia. The new liner will be the twin brother of the Scenic Eclipse liner, which debuted in 2019.
The company also announced that it will build five vessels in the next six years in Croatia, but did not specify what the delivery schedule would be.
Previously, the construction of the Scenic Eclipse was delayed for a year after the Uljanik shipyard in Croatia faced financial problems. Since then, Scenic has set up its own MKM Yachts in Rijeka, Croatia to take over the construction of its fleet of five ships of this class.
“This agreement is the result of a tremendous effort by our entire Croatian team, in particular our new Managing Director of MKM Yachts, Sasa Čokljat,” said Glen Moroni, owner and chairman of Scenic Group. “The Croatian government is committed to supporting the renovation of the shipyard and helping finance our construction program, which will include the delivery of five new liners over the next six years. All vessels will have the highest 6-star standard with the ability to navigate the polar regions. "
Sasa Čokljat stated that the new business model of the cruise company will allow MKM Yachts to take over part of the Rijeka shipyard and use the existing infrastructure and knowledge of Croatian shipbuilders, working in collaboration with Scenic's team of experts.
