Safety protocols on cruise ships!08.06.2020 16:27
As the COVID-19 pandemic continues to spread globally, cruise lines are developing detailed health and safety protocols that will enable them to safely resume service.

We have collected available information about the policies of various cruise lines. More cruise lines will be added when detailed health and safety measures are announced. At a minimum, all of these measures include adhering to social distancing protocols within 2 meters of other guests; strict disinfection procedures; and extended health checks both on board and on board.

When will the cruises start? Click here.

Innovations for each cruise line:

Bahamas Paradise: Will reduce the capacity of its vessels by 40 percent, introduce new online check-in procedures, increase the number of cabin cleanings, wash and disinfect bed linen at high temperatures, limit the capacity of shops and entertainment establishments (up to 50% capacity) and eliminate air recirculation by on board all ships.

CroisiEurope: Lunch and dinner buffets will be replaced with 2-shift restaurant meals. Masks, hand sanitizer and gloves will be available upon request. Guests are advised to use masks on shore excursions and QuietVox wireless audio systems to facilitate social distancing during excursions.

Norwegian Cruise Line: unveiled their new safety protocols as part of their Peace of Mind policy:

- Each ship will have a public health officer and expanded medical personnel;
- Additionally, medical grade H13 HEPA air filters will be installed, which remove 99.95% of airborne pathogenic microorganisms;
- All guests will undergo an extended medical check-up before boarding, and those who are more at risk will undergo an additional check-up. The entire crew will be thoroughly screened prior to boarding and constantly monitored throughout the flight;
- All ships and cruise terminals will be thoroughly cleaned and disinfected before each voyage in accordance with the company's protocols, which are developed in collaboration with the CDC Ship Sanitation Program;
- In addition, all cabins, suites and public areas will be cleaned and disinfected with greater frequency using electrostatic spray technology, including cleaning in cabins and public areas with hypochlorous acid disinfectant (HOCI). Hypochlorous acid is a non-toxic, powerful oxidant that effectively kills bacteria, spores, and viruses;
- The 24/7 prevention schedule will include continuous disinfection of public and high traffic areas;
- Buffets and eateries will be fully serviced by the staff (Food will be served at the request of the guest. Before that, tourists themselves collected food at the Buffet);
- In terms of ship loading, the company said it will not be fully loaded and is working to get COVID-19 rapid test kits on board.

Princess Cruises: Released preliminary details describing additional sanitary protocols in terminals and on board, and clarified additional measures:
- Changing cruise routes. Preference will be given to regions that are less affected by the virus;
- Strengthening health control up to denying boarding to tourists who have come into contact with patients with COVID-19;
- Thorough examination when boarding (Thermal examination and additional medical examination in individual cases);
- Disinfection of cruise terminals;
- Thorough disinfection of the entire liner and cabins, in particular.

Regent Seven Seas: will offer new health and safety protocols similar to those deployed by Norwegian Cruise Line (both lines are part of Norwegain Cruise Line Holdings).

Luxury Cruise Line Silversea: At a virtual media event for the new liner on June 5, Silver Origin announced that physical distancing and rigorous sanitation will be part of future travel. Executives also said the company is developing a network of laboratories around the world and will conduct rigorous health checks on all passengers and crew.

Windstar: In addition to planting health and temperature checks and improved disinfection procedures. Windstar will carry out transfers to its yachts to promote social distancing. There will also be more time for lunch in order to avoid crowding tourists in one place.
