Carnival Corporation has announced the sale of 13 cruise ships.

 

As a reminder, the Carnival Corporation includes 9 cruise lines: Carnival Cruise Line, Princess Cruises, Holland America Line, P&O Cruises (Australia), Seabourn, Costa Cruises, AIDA Cruises, P&O Cruises (UK) and Cunard Line.

 

Thus, the fleet will leave the liners:

 

Holland America Line: Amsterdam (2000), Maasdam (1993), Rotterdam (1997) and Veendam (1996).

 

Costa Cruises - sold its Costa NeoRomantica to Celestyal Cruises. Celestyal Cruises offers a variety of cruises to the Greek Islands, usually starting from the port of Piraeus (Athens). Considering the convenience of flights to Athens and their cost, this news can be considered positive.

 

P&O Australia - Sold the Pacific Dawn (1991) and Pacific Aria (1994) to the British cruise line Cruise & Maritime Voyages.

 

Also on sale are the Carnival Cruise Line liners:

Carnival Fantasy (1990) - the oldest ship owned by a cruise company. In 2019, it underwent a small renovation.

Asking price: 100,000,000.00 USD

 

Carnival Ecstasy (1990) - prior to COVIS-19, the liner cruised from Jacksonville, USA to the Caribbean. The vessel was renovated in October 2019.

Asking price: 100,000,000.00 USD

 

Carnival Elation (1998) - A Fantasy class liner cruised the Caribbean. The home port of the liner is Port Canaveral, USA.

Asking price: USD 250,000,000.00

 

Carnival Inspiration (1996) - Another Fantasy class liner that made short cruises (Up to 7 nights).

Asking price: USD 250,000,000.00

 

Carnival Sunrise (1999) - Formerly called the Carnival Triumph. The liner was completely renovated in 2016. Due to the pandemic, the liner stopped cruising on May 11, 2020. This is a completely re-equipped vessel with lots of entertainment and expanded infrastructure.

Asking price: 350,000,000.00 USD

 

Unfortunately, at the moment we have no information about the 13th liner.

 

As we can see, all the cruise ships that Carnival Corporation plans to sell or has already sold are obsolete, and the date of their sale was only a matter of time. Cruise lines are now giving preference to new liners with more modern technologies, developed infrastructure and more environmentally friendly technologies.

 

What does this mean for tourists from Ukraine and what consequences will it have?

 

Fortunately, we and our tourists choose newer cruise ships, so these events will have almost no negative impact on tourists from Ukraine. Holland America Line liners are the only exception, as they made interesting routes with visits to exclusive ports. But, we can say with confidence that the cruise company will supply newer liners on these routes and all tourists will only benefit.
