According to the press release, the liner is moving on to the outfitting stage, namely the complex of works on finishing and engineering equipment of the ship's interior. HAL plans to put the liner into operation next summer.
The event kicked off with the traditional "coin-laying ceremony" in which the shipyard workers welded a silver dollar to the last deck of the ship. The godmother of the ceremony was Mai Elmar, CEO of the cruise port of Rotterdam in the Netherlands. In particular, the ceremony was also attended by: on behalf of HAL - Cyril Tatar, vice president for new buildings of Holland America Line, on behalf of Fincantieri - Antonio Quintano - director of the shipyard.
The new liner Rotterdam will be the twin brothers of Koningsdam and Nieuw Statendam, which are part of Holland America's Pinnacle class of vessels, capable of accommodating 2,668 guests.
