Cruise companies are revising plans to reflect travel restrictions!08.11.2020 20:50
Cruise lines continue to plan cruises despite the increasing restrictions related to the spread of COVID-19, especially in Europe. In addition, cruise lines in the United States are working on plans to resume cruises, in line with a statement from the American Center for Disease Control and Prevention CDC.
MSC Cruises, which was the first to resume operations in the Mediterranean, has announced several changes to its itineraries due to tightened restrictions in France and Germany. The cruise company plans to suspend cruises on the MSC Magnifica from November 8 and resume from December 18. According to the cruise company, the 10-day cruises on the ship resumed on October 19 and were popular among citizens of France and Germany.
Cruises on MSC Grandiosa will not be suspended, and the liner will continue to operate weekly cruises with calls to ports in Italy and Malta.
At the same time, the cruise line is stepping up its precautions. Previously, all passengers were tested before boarding the liner, and now they will be tested in the middle of the cruise, and the crew, who passed testing twice a month, will now pass it weekly.
In Europe, river cruise lines plan to resume their cruises as early as December if quarantine restrictions are not extended.
At the time, Vicky Fried, vice president of cruise line Royal Caribbean International, discussed with travel organizations the company's plans to resume cruises from the United States. Earlier, the CEO of Royal Caribbean Group discussed the CDC's announcement, saying it provides a clear path for cruises to resume.
Also, Royal Caribbean this week announced an extension of the cancellation of cruises until the end of December, saying they hope this will be the last extension. Resuming cruises for cruise lines requires many steps, according to the CDC. Test cruises will already begin in December and should prove the new safety protocols work. After the test cruises have been completed and all safety protocols have been implemented, the first cruises will most likely be mini cruises from Florida to the private island of Cocockey in the Bahamas, owned by the company. These cruises will allow you to adhere to safety protocols while keeping passengers safe.
