New LUX cruise line!11.06.2021 18:07
MSC Group announced the creation of an all-new LUXURY cruise line - Explora Journeys.
Analyzing the constant growth in demand for Yacht Club cabins on MSC Cruises ships, the MSC Group management decided to create a completely new cruise company for the most demanding guests!
In total, the construction of four luxury liners has been announced. They will be built, according to tradition, at the Fincantieri shipyard. Commissioning of the first cruise ship Explora l is scheduled for 2023. Other liners will be built in 2024, 2025 and 2026.
The Executive Chairman of the MSC Group Cruise Division, Pierfrancesco Vago, said:
“Building a luxury brand that will reshape cruising and create its own category has been a long-standing vision for me and my family”;
“Inspired by our personal travel wishes, Explora Journeys will be a unique ocean retreat, allowing guests to relax, remember and spend time at sea with their loved ones. After all, time is the ultimate luxury. "
Explora l is an innovative ship created in collaboration with superyacht and luxury hotel designers. At 461 Suites, guests can enjoy stunning sea views from their private terrace. The suites will start at 35 square meters, which is one of the most spacious suites in this category.
Fourteen decks will provide ample indoor public space, maximizing choice and privacy for guests.
“Explora Journeys has been designed for guests who love a more atmospheric and secluded environment and exclusive cruise itineraries,” said Michael Ungerer, CEO of Explora Journeys.
“Customer focus is at the heart of everything we do. We commissioned research, organized focus groups and held roundtables with global luxury experts to design the perfect ship for our guests. "
A guest-to-crew ratio of 1.25: 1 will ensure "timely service at every turn," MSC said.
The restaurants will use organic ingredients sourced from local partners, the company said. Several indoor and outdoor bars and lounges will also be available.
The expansive indoor / outdoor spa and on-board fitness center will include treatment rooms, state-of-the-art fitness equipment, group classes, one-to-one workouts, personalized programs and more.
In partnership with Fincantieri, Explora Journeys is using “the latest technology to help protect the environment while being prepared to adapt to energy alternatives as they become available,” MSC said.
“The design includes batteries for future hybrid power generation and the latest Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) technology to reduce nitrogen oxide (NOx) emissions by 90 percent. All four vessels built with shore-to-shore power to avoid quay CO2 emissions and running on marine gas oil will be RINA DOLPHIN certified for underwater noise abatement. Disposable plastics will not be used on board the ship and they will not be offered during onshore events as Explora Journeys aims to leave a positive impression of the places and people who visit, ”writes MSC.
“Our ships will use state-of-the-art technology to ensure that we are leading the way towards a more sustainable future. Together with our partners, we are currently developing innovative technologies that will improve the status quo not only for this generation, but also for generations to come, ”he said.
The journey starts at seven nights, so the best-in-class vacation for guests ensures relaxed mornings and exciting evenings.
“The extraordinary arrival and departure times, combined with overnight stays, will allow Explora Journeys to offer guests exclusive access to a unique experience. With ships that travel far north and south of the equator, the routes in the first collection offer the perfect combination of famous destinations such as Saint Tropez, Bordeaux and Reykjavik and hidden gems such as Kastelorizo, Bozcaada and the Lofoten Islands. Explora Journeys will take guests to lesser-known harbors for a more authentic experience and a slower journey, ”writes MSC.
Explora Journeys' logo was designed by Aleca Aponte-Vago, CFO of MSC Group, daughter of founder Gianluigi Aponte and wife of Chairman Pierfrancesco Vago. According to the press release, the logo was inspired by a mandala.
“This pattern, rooted in spirituality, is a journey of personal discovery and fulfillment. The lotus flower illustrations symbolize purity of body, speech and mind, while the fleur-de-lis hint represents humility and a connection with European heritage. The intricate typeface hints at the subtle curves of the sea, ”wrote the MSC Group.
Applications for the 2023 Inaugural Collection will open in the fall of 2021.
