That's right. Now some of the most popular island states that belong to the overseas territories of France do not need a visa!

What are these overseas territories and why have we been able to fly to France with a biometric passport without visas for a long time, but not to the islands?

The main essence of this injustice is that since June 2017, Ukrainian citizens have the opportunity to travel to Schengen countries without a visa. However, the situation is different with overseas territories that are not part of the Schengen area. Thus, in order to visit Martinique, Reunion, Bora Bora or other islands, it was necessary to open a visa for the overseas territories of France.

The procedure for applying for a visa and a package of documents, to everyone's surprise, was not very simple.

By the way, to visit the overseas territories of other countries (UK, Netherlands, etc.) on a cruise visa is not required!

But, from 26.07.2021 you can go to all these countries without visas! At the moment, the main conditions are:

1. Biometric passport, which will be valid for at least six months after the planned end of the stay in the French Overseas Territories;

2. The presence of a full course of vaccine (2 doses). 14 days should pass after the second dose.
