Half of the world`s fleet will resume cruises in August!18.08.2021 16:32
The cruise industry continues to recover and is showing a good trend. By the end of August, it is planned to restore almost 50% of all cruise liners in the world !!!
According to the Global Cruise Ship Index for 2022 from Cruise Industry News, the combined fleet of nearly 90 cruise lines currently in operation numbers around 410 cruise ships.
190 of these cruise ships are resuming their cruises until August 31st. This is almost half of all liners!
Many factors contributed to this rate of recovery:
- Positive consequences after the implementation of security protocols;
- Launch of new cruise ships;
- Opening of ports for cruises;
- A large number of vaccinated tourists;
- and etc.
During the pandemic, for 8 months, there were up to 20 cruise ships in different regions of the world. But already from May 2021, the trend began to change in a positive direction. So in May already 55 ships went. Further, after the opening of US and European ports by the end of July, 141 ships were already making cruises. By the end of August, the number of cruise ships will be 190.
The number of ports opened is also growing, from just under 26,000 in September 2020 to over 275,000 by 31 August 2021.
