Brazil - will be the next country to open for cruises!05.10.2021 17:15
After months of negotiations, the resumption of cruises in Brazil was announced on Saturday.
“We will have cruises this year: the cruise season is allowed,” Brazilian Tourism Minister Gilson Machado Neto said in a video on social media.
The government intends to resume cruises as the cruise industry "creates about 42,000 jobs in Brazil."
Port security protocols are under development, along with other activities to improve connectivity at cruise terminals and ports in Brazil.
It is preliminarily planned to use the protocols already tested in other countries:
- Limited number of passengers on board (up to 70%);
- Express testing before boarding;
- Complete vaccination of all crew members;
- Wearing masks in public places on board the ship;
- Port visits as part of group excursions.
Taking into account the experience of cruise companies, all this will be quite easy to accomplish.
It is planned that the liners will call at the most popular Brazilian ports: Santos, Rio de Janeiro, El Salvador, Angra dos Reis, Buzius, Fortaleza, Maceio and Ilhabela.
Routes to Argentina and Uruguay, popular in the region, are not yet planned.
A total of 130 cruises and 570 cruise calls are planned from November 2021 to April 2022.
