5 Billion for a floating city!?11.12.2022 16:07
Is it realistic to do this with the help of modern technologies and the ambitions of one of the richest Arab countries?
Every day there are more and more projects that are aimed at conquering the expanses of water. Basically, we focus on cruise ships, ports and shipyards. But there are other ones too!
One such super-ambitious project is a new $5 billion “superyacht” commissioned by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

It is planned that the terrayacht called Pangeos will be built in the shape of a turtle and will be able to accommodate 60,000 guests!
Why Pangeos? The name of the floating city was given for a reason. Pangeos "derives its name from Pangaea, a supercontinent that existed millions of years ago during the late Paleozoic and early Mesozoic eras."
The new project was designed by the Italian design studio Lazzarini. The dimensions of this building are really impressive:
Dina: 550 meters
Width: 610 meters
It is planned that on board will be located:
- In the "wings": 19 villas and 64 apartments;
- Residential complexes and villas with terraces in the central part;
- Helipad and platforms for landing other aircraft;
- Roof garden;
- Big mall;
- Beach club;
- Terashipyard area providing direct access to the sea (650 meters long and 600 meters wide);
It is also known that the megayacht will be powered by 9 HTS engines with a capacity of 16,800 hp. Each of the engines will develop a maximum speed of 5 knots (9.2 km/h).
Will work only on renewable and environmentally friendly energy sources (solar, water, etc.)
Well, we are waiting for the implementation of the project. If this project is implemented, it will give a big impetus to the construction of similar offshore structures.

It is worth noting that a floating city is already being built in Saudi Arabia. It is planned to be fully completed in 2030.
The new city, shaped exactly as it is named, is part of the Neom Kingdom's mega-project and aims to create a new logistics hub that will change the "world's approach to industrial development in the future," Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman said at the time. launch.
It was first announced last November, with full completion scheduled for 2030. Some of its key features - advanced logistics solutions - are expected to be implemented by 2025.
By 2030, the city plans to accommodate about 90,000 residents, with the first expected as early as next year.
