MSC Cruises held a ceremony to mark the first cutting of steel for its third WORLD class ship, which will be named MSC World Asia.
The new 205,000 tonne vessel, currently under construction at the Chantiers de l'Atlantique shipyard, is due to begin sailing in 2026.
MSC Cruises Group CEO Pierfrancesco Vago was joined by Chantiers de l'Atlantique CEO Laurent Castaing during the ceremony on Tuesday in Miami Beach.

Together with MSC Cruises CEO Gianni Onorato, the two executives signed the first piece of steel for the ship, which is being built in Saint-Nazaire in northern France.
Speaking at the ceremony, Kasten said the ship is expected to be the world's most advanced cruise ship.
The MSC World Asia flagship will also introduce new green technologies to reduce its environmental impact, he said.
The vessel will operate on a variety of alternative fuels, Kastain added, which will provide MSC with more benefits in the future.

Kastan also noted that certain areas on board will be redesigned to ensure guest satisfaction and enjoyment.
Although itineraries have not yet been revealed, bookings for cruises on board the new ship are scheduled to open in late 2024.
MSC Cruises also celebrated the launch of the new cruise ship MSC World America earlier this month. The LNG-powered vessel is also being built at the Chantiers de l'Atlantique shipyard in Saint-Nazaire and is due to enter service in April 2025.
Joining the company's US lineup, MSC World America is set to offer weeklong Caribbean cruises from Miami.
The ship will also introduce its new Cliffhanger, the only above-water swing ride at sea.
