In 2024, the port of Heraklion, Greece welcomed a record number of cruise passengers, according to a press release.

From January to August 2024, the port welcomed 348,249 cruise passengers, compared to 233,783 for the same period in 2023.

It is interesting that in July 2024, 39 cruise ships with 91,615 passengers arrived at the port, and in August of the same year – 35 ships with 89,863 passengers.

This represents an increase of 82.34% in July and 82.97% in August compared to the same months last year.

In total, the port recorded 171 cruise ship arrivals from January to August 2024, compared to 150 arrivals in 2023, representing a 48.96% increase in passenger numbers.
