Benoa is a sea bay in the south of the Indonesian island of Bali. The bay is part of the Badung Strait, which separates Bali from the group of small islands to the east.
The name Benoa also belongs to a number of geographical objects that are located on its banks. On the coast, mostly on an artificial island, is the port of Benoa, Bali's largest seaport.
Since the end of the last century, the water area of the bay has gradually decreased due to drainage and backfilling, which were aimed at creating new territories in this part of Bali. This has led to serious environmental and socio-economic problems.
