Nice airport to port.

There is an airport in Cannes, but not intended for tourists. It only accepts private jets, so you need to fly to Nice.

 

There are three modes of transport to help you on your short journey between Nice Airport and Cannes:

- Take a taxi from Nice airport, about 80 euros, which takes about 30 minutes.

 

- The train is another option, costing around € 5.90 and takes about 50 minutes. There is no train line from the airport, so in order to catch the train, you must first get to Nice-St Augustin station from the airport. It is on foot (about 15 minutes), or bus # 99 will pass this stop.

 

- There are two bus options that will take you from Nice Airport to Cannes:

 

     - Public bus 200 is much slower as there are more stops here, so the journey may take up to 90 minutes depending on traffic. This is a cheap option (€ 1.50) but not suitable for time sensitive holidaymakers.

 

     - The best of these is the Express Bus Service # 210. It is slightly more expensive (€ 22) than the public bus, but much faster as the journey only takes 45 minutes.

From the port to the city.

Cannes is a compact city, most of the attractions are within walking distance of the harbor, making it a good port to explore on your own without transportation.

La Croisette. La Croisette promenade overlooks the Mediterranean Sea on one side and is surrounded by historic hotels, casinos, restaurants, gardens and more.

 

Palace of Festivals and Congresses. The Palais des Festivals et des Congrès, or Convention Center, is a modern building on the east side of La Croisette. The convention center hosts many events throughout the year, from concerts with young European musicians to circus events.

 

Castres Museum. This is a museum located in the ruins of an 11th century castle built by the Galeren monks, in the historic district of Le Suquet, the old town. The museum features musical instruments from all over the world, and visitors can enjoy art from the Himalayas, Oceania and the Arctic, as well as Mediterranean antiques and pre-Columbian ceramics.

 

Museum of the Sea. This unique Sea Museum is located on the island of St. Margaret and deserves a separate visit. The exhibits are dedicated to a variety of things, from collections of photographs of Cannes to the prison system and collections of underwater archeology. The highlight is the exhibition dedicated to the mysterious Man in the Iron Mask.

 

Colorful markets. Forville Market, one of the most popular French covered markets in the Le Suquet area of ​​Cannes, is the place to shop for seasonal, local fresh fruits and vegetables and learn how the locals live.

 

Cannes Film Festival. Every May, stars, wannabes and movie fans visit the Palais des Festivals for the annual Cannes Film Festival, which turns the resort into a frenetic activity for days. Everyone is trying to see the action; even if you are not involved in the industry, you can do it.

 

 

Public beaches. The sandy public beaches of Cannes offer locals and tourists a place to relax and enjoy. Palm Beach, located east of Cannes, is a quiet, shallow spot that attracts families, kiteboarders, windsurfers and kayakers for a full day of fun. Plage du Midi is the largest public beach in Cannes, located on the west side of the city near Le Suquet. This popular spot is suitable for relaxing, swimming, ice cream or eating at a nearby restaurant.
