Old city. Walk around the old town of Kotor for a while and you will feel its beauty. Cafes, shops and restaurants are located in each square.
Cathedral of St. Tryphon. It is the most impressive of the dozen churches, cathedrals and monasteries in the Old Town. One of two Roman Catholic cathedrals in Montenegro (most of them are Orthodox). It was built in honor of Saint Tryphon, the patron saint of the city.
Church of St. Nicholas and other Kotor churches. The second impressive religious building in the city is the Serbian Orthodox Church of St. Nicholas. Overlooking St. Luke's Square in the northwestern part of the Old Town, the front façade of the church is topped by two bell towers with black domes and gold crosses, and a large Serbian flag hangs below. Many visitors enjoy the mystical atmosphere of the church.
Kotor fortress. A hike to the Fortress of St. John, or the Castle of San Giovanni, is one of the most tempting activities in Kotor. 1,355 steps follow a section of the Old Town walls that rises steeply uphill next to the Old Town, providing absolutely epic views of the Bay of Kotor. About halfway you will pass through the Church of Our Lady.
Walls and bastions of the Old City. The old town of Kotor is surrounded by walls, facing the embankment in the south, the Skurda River in the west, and ascends Mount Lovcen to the Kotor fortress in the east.
Cat Museum. One thing that you will immediately notice about Kotor is the presence of a large number of cats. They're all over the place, lounging in the sun and running around town. Kotor's Cat Museum, as the name suggests, is dedicated to the cats of Kotor. The museum is mainly a collection of paintings and souvenirs about cats, with a small admission fee going to help the homeless.
Kotor beach. The main beach of Kotor is located five minutes walk north of the Old Town, past the port of Kotor and Sloboda Park. The beach is mostly pebbled, with paid sun loungers and a free section in summer.
Maritime Museum. History buffs will love the Maritime Museum in the Old Town of Kotor. A small museum tells about the maritime history and culture of the area.
