Santorini is one of the most popular ports of call in the Eastern Mediterranean. The island is located in the Aegean Sea and is the southernmost of the Cyclades. Santorini is also known as Fira or Thira.

Santorini Airport to Fira
- From Santorini airport there are KTEL Thiras buses to Fira. They stop at the bus station, from which buses also go to the airport and to the villages of Santorini. The ticket price is just over 2 euros.

From port to city
 
Tourists on cruise ships can reach Fira on foot, by donkey or by cable car.
- Ride the cable car at an affordable price. The cable car is available every 20 minutes.

Fira. It consists of whitewashed cubic houses and terraces, winding streets, small squares and blue-domed churches that rise from the cliffs. Many of the buildings serve as small hotels, apartments, restaurants, cafes, souvenir and jewelry stores.
 
And I. It is known for its famous sunsets that attract tourists from all over the world. It is a picturesque village of whitewashed houses, some of which have been converted into chic little boutique hotels with infinity pools. From Ammoudi Bay, there are steep zig-zag paths to the town, where you will find a number of seafood eateries along the waterfront, many of which are served outdoors.
 
Caldera. Formed by a powerful volcanic explosion that blew up the center of the island about 3,600 years ago, the caldera is a sea-filled volcanic crater. You can take a day excursion to the caldera by boat, including time to take a dip in the hot springs, and then dine on Tirasia, a tiny island on the western side of the caldera with stunning views of Santorini.
 
Archaeological excavations. Near the village of modern Akrotiri, 12 kilometers southwest of Fira, the ancient Minoan settlement of Akrotiri was buried under lava after a volcanic explosion in the 16th century BC. BC, who created the caldera. At the archaeological site of Akrotiri, visitors can walk the trails through the ruins of the city to see the remains of the clay buildings of this once thriving city.

Archaeological Museum. The small archaeological museum, located next to the upper cable car station in Fira, displays finds from ancient Tyra, dating back to the Dorian, Hellenistic, Roman and Byzantine periods. Inscriptions dating from the archaic era to the Roman period, clay animal figurines and beautiful pottery are some of the exhibits on display in this museum.
 
 
Museum of Prehistoric Thira. Shows finds from the archaeological site of Akrotiri in a modern white building located near the 1950s Metropolis Church in Fira. One of the main tourist attractions is the Blue Monkey wall mural. Other antique exhibits include marble figurines, painted pottery, tools and weapons.
 
Pyrgos. Pyrgos was the capital of Santorini before Fira took over in 1800. The tiny village of Pyrgos, located in the center of Santorini, consists of whitewashed Cycladic cottages built around the ruins of a medieval castle on a hilltop. Pyrgos has several small, chic restaurants and boutique hotels.
 
Mount Profitis Ilias. From Pyrgos the road leads to the top of the mountain. Profitis Ilias (584 meters), Santorini's highest point with panoramic views of the island and the sea. Here is the mighty monastery of Profitis Ilias, an 18th century nature reserve that is open to the public.
 
Beach at Perissa. The most famous and most popular beach of Santorini is located on the southeast coast, between the villages of Perissa and Perivolos. A six-kilometer stretch of fine black volcanic sand surrounded by tamarisk trees and sprawling out from a range of taverns and seafood cafes. There are sun loungers and parasols for rent, as well as water sports.

Sightseeing tour of the island.

At the end of the excursion, a walk around the capital of the island of Tire. Tira is located on terraces on volcanic rocks 250 m high and offers stunning views of the sea and the volcano. The terraces are lined with hotels, shops, bars and restaurants perched on the edge of the caldera. The view is attracted by the domes of churches and the cylindrical roofs of the scaffa's cave houses.
