The climate of the northern part of the Indian Ocean is characterized by monsoons, which are most strongly developed here in comparison with other regions of the globe. Their origin is associated with the proximity of the Asian continent. In winter, when the pressure over Asia is increased, a northeastern monsoon occurs, and in summer, with a reduced pressure over the mainland, a southwestern monsoon. The winter monsoon is observed from November to March, reaching the greatest development in December-January. The summer monsoon is observed from June to October, reaching its greatest development in July-August. The transition from winter to summer monsoon occurs in April-May, summer is replaced by winter in October.
In the equatorial belt, weak variable winds are observed, and calms are frequent. In winter, northbound winds usually prevail, in summer - southward.
In the southern part of the ocean, wind flows are constant throughout the year and are due to the presence of a constant high pressure area at 30 latitudes.
The highest air temperature over the ocean is typical for the Persian Gulf - 34 ° C in August. In the northern part of the ocean, the maximum temperature of + 29 ° C and higher is noted in May, when the influence of the southwestern monsoons is not yet affected. The air temperature in the equatorial zone throughout the year is about + 28 ° С.
Going on vacation to one of the islands of the Indian Ocean is the dream of every person. It is important to make the right choice and prepare as much as possible in order to get the most out of your vacation!
