As Viking Orion focuses directly on ports and destinations, most of the day's activities focus on information enrichment. Activities throughout the day can include golfing competitions on the upper deck, or a coffee chat to help you get to know your fellow travelers. From time to time wine, cocktail and Armagnac tastings are offered for a fee.
The Viking Orion is the first ship in the fleet with a high-tech planetarium. And this is fantastic. Passengers with even a fleeting interest in space will be delighted with the knowledge of the convergence of stars and planets. The 26-seat high-resolution dome cinema connects to the ship's telescope and shows 3D programs that will make you feel like a child again. The planetarium is a feature that grabs your attention, but it certainly isn't the only thing that makes this amazing liner stand out.
The Viking Orion has two pools, one in the center of Deck 7 and the other an infinity pool aft. Each one is deep and surrounded by a hot tub. There are comfortable sun loungers around them, and if necessary, with warm blankets.
You will also find plenty of space on Deck 9 with a golf course, shuffleboard and bocce / croquet.
A number of shops selling jewelry, Viking logos, duty-free shopping and apparel are located on Decks 1 and 2.
The spa treatments on board are based on the thermal complex, which includes a series of hot and cold treatments - one of the main components of Scandinavian wellness. The thermal suite features a large and deep thalassotherapy pool, steam room, hot tub, heated ceramic sun loungers, shower and snow grotto.
The Fitness Center at Viking Orion is a state-of-the-art facility with cardiovascular, strength and dumbbell equipment. The gym also has yoga, Pilates and stretching mats.
For a relatively small liner, Viking Orion offers a wide variety of dining options. The food is excellent, the service is high quality, the dishes are varied. Due to their Scandinavian roots, the menu lines draw heavily on dishes popular in Scandinavian culture. This allows passengers to try something new.
Restaurants are included with your cruise, as well as wine, soft drinks and beer for lunch and dinner.
The Restaurant. It is a large open space with mostly tables for two and four. The decor is elegant, the dining area is open to every meal, and the restaurant service is excellent. A noticeable variety of hot and cold dishes.
World Cafe. This is a buffet on the ship and is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner. The space has an unobstructed view from the windows from all sides. At the back of the restaurant is the Aquavit Terrace bar, which is actually a great continuation of the buffet.
The Chef's Table. One of the specialized restaurants is open for dinner only. Offers a five course menu that changes every two to three days depending on the duration of the cruise. There are a total of 13 themed tasting menus available, including Mexican, Pan-Asian and Scandinavian.
Manfredi's. It is the second specialized restaurant. When you walk in, you immediately see an expansive cooking area where chefs slice cold meats, cut fresh parmesan slices and make espresso. There is also a separate room that can be reserved for larger parties. The menu is so vast that it can be a little overwhelming at first.
Viking bar. Basically it is just an extension of the living room, but it has a refrigerator that serves hearty snacks throughout the day. During breakfast, you can take a walk for pastries. You can also try something tasty for lunch.
Pool Grill. Set outdoors on the poolside terrace, open for lunch only. You can take cooked or fresh salads along with fruit in the small buffet, or order a full hot meal.
Also on board there is a service 24 hours a day, thanks to which you can order yourself breakfast, lunch or dinner directly to your cabin.
