After arriving in Belfast in late April, Odyssey Villa Vie spent most of the summer in dry dock at Harland & Wolff. Prior to resuming service for Astro Ocean Cruises, Piano Land was drydocked at the Cosco Shipping Heavy Industry shipyard in Zhoushan, China, on July 25. The 1995-built vessel was ready to welcome guests again, undergoing regular maintenance, technical repairs, and class inspections. Also, Royal Caribbean International’s Allure of the Seas is set for a major renovation ahead of its 2025 Western Mediterranean summer itinerary.

The $100 million upgrade will add a number of new features and experiences to the 2010-built vessel. According to Royal Caribbean, there will be more than 35 bars and restaurants, as well as several “new thrills and ways to unwind.”

Here’s a look at some of the highlights of the renovation and features that will be added to the Oasis-class ship:

Pools and Water Features

According to Royal Caribbean, Allure of the Seas will feature updated pool decks that will feature more shaded seating, pool loungers, daybeds and more.

The adults-only Solarium will also feature new touches, including the addition of a Samba Grill and specialty bars.

Other attractions coming to Allure of the Seas include The Perfect Storm, a trio of waterslides that debuted on other, newer ships in the fleet.

Included are the Cyclone and Typhoon racing slides, as well as SuperCell, a champagne bowl designed to maximize twists and turns.

Royal Caribbean says Splashway Bay is also getting a makeover. Designed for toddlers and teens, the pool deck will feature slides, water cannons, fountains, pools and whirlpools, as well as two drenching buckets.

Food and Drink

Allure of the Seas will also feature new food and beverage concepts, including several signature venues that are available on new ships, such as The Lime & Coconut.

A pool bar will be added to two locations on board the ship, offering a drink menu set to live music. El Loco Fresh will be on the ship’s outer decks, with a menu that includes tacos, burritos, and quesadillas.

Family-Friendly Spots

Pesky Parrot, which is joining Allure after debuting on the new Utopia of the Seas, will offer a range of fruit-based cocktails made with rum, tequila, and gin. The Caribbean-inspired tiki bar’s menu will include frozen drinks and surprises, Royal Caribbean said.

Playmakers Sports Bar & Arcade is another venue that will be added to Allure. Guests can watch live games on dozens of TVs, play classic arcade games, and order bar snacks and beer.

The Mason Jar Southern Restaurant & Bar will also be added, as is the case on Wonder and Utopia of the Seas

The company said Adventure Ocean will feature a new layout that allows kids to choose their own immersive experiences.

The teen space will be completely transformed into Social 298, a place to play video games, listen to music, watch movies, and more.

Additional Suites and More

Royal Caribbean said the ship will be adding Ultimate Panoramic Suites above the bridge, new cabins that will be added to the ship that will offer 200-degree views of the ocean. Allure of the Seas will continue to offer all the traditional Oasis-class experiences, including FlowRider surf simulators, rock climbing walls, AquaTheater, and more.
