Norwegian Cruise Line`s new ships are getting bigger!28.08.2024 22:10
Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings has revealed new details of its upcoming cruise ships. The new ships from the Fincantieri shipyard are part of an order for eight liners placed earlier this year.
 
The new ships for Norwegian Cruise Line should be built between 2030 and 2036, and they will have a new design and increase in size, according to the company's announcement.
 
According to information released during the company's second quarter earnings presentation this year, instead of 200,000 tons, the four ships will have approximately 225,000 tons, with a capacity of approximately 5,100 guests.
 
The new ships will be approximately 38% larger than the company's largest ship, built in 2019, Norwegian Encore.
 
Norwegian's new ships will also be among the largest in the world, with dimensions similar to Royal Caribbean's Oasis class, which range from 220,000 to 231,000 tons. In addition to the new class, a list of orders
 
Norwegian Cruise Line also includes four additional Prima-class ships.
 
Part of the six-ship pre-order includes the new Norwegian Aqua, due to enter service in 2025. Slightly larger than her two 143,000-ton sister ships, Norwegian Prima and Norwegian Viva, the 156,000-ton vessel will be able to accommodate up to 3,550 guests.
 
Following the launch of Aqua, Norwegian will receive two methanol-ready Prima ships in 2027 and 2028. The so-called "green" ships will show further growth in size and power.
 
In its second quarter earnings report, Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings also confirmed the number of new ships under construction for Oceania Cruises and Regent Seven Seas Cruises. Following OceaniaAllura, due to enter service in 2025, Oceania is set to receive two new ships, with a capacity of 1,450 guests, these flagships will be the largest in the premium cruise brand's fleet.
 
Also developing a new class of ships, Regent is set to welcome the new Seven Seas Prestige into the family in 2026. The 850-guest ship will be followed in 2029 by an as-yet unnamed sister ship.
