Coronavirus is the end of the world or how the media hype on your fears.24.02.2020 15:21
Dear readers, I am not a doctor, like most of you. But I am an attentive person who tries to analyze information, and not trust many media outlets that will publish any news in order to attract more readers on HYIP.
To begin with, I would like to answer a few questions that, in my opinion, may immediately appear for you:
1. Why is this article on the website of a tour operator.
Honest answer: You yourself understand that the activity of any company depends on travel, and panic can affect the decision of people to enjoy life and well-deserved rest or stay at home in an apartment. Why in the apartment? Because viruses are everywhere and in Ukraine there are a lot of them already now. And yes, they kill a lot of people, much more than the Chinese virus.
2. Why should I read this if the text was not even written by a doctor or virologist?
Honest answer: It is. Neither I nor our employees are doctors. But, all the information has long been in the official sources of many laboratories and medical institutions, as well as in the same media. It just needs to be divided into "gossip" and news, and then analyzed and made the right conclusions. In this article I will provide links to these sources.
3. There are no cases of the disease in Ukraine, but in many other countries there are.
Indeed, we see on the map that not only in Asian countries, cases of coronavirus have been recorded, but also in Europe, South America, North America, Australia and Africa (Egypt). As far as I know, there are simply no tests for this virus in Ukraine. And temperature measurements are, to put it mildly, a dubious type of check. We will examine this issue more extensively in this article.
Of course, I cannot predict all the questions, but I will be glad to answer them.
I would like to start with statistics as of 02.24.2020:
Coronavirus:
Total: Infected: 79,700 people; lethal outcome: 2626 people; Death rate: 3.3%
In China: Infected: 77,345 people; lethal outcome: 2593 people; Death rate: 3.4%
Worldwide (except China): Infected: 2355 people; Years of exodus: 33 people; Death rate: 1.4%
From them:
In the USA: Infected: 35 people; lethal outcome: 0 people; Fatality rate: 0%
In Italy: Infected: 212 people; year of outcome: 4 people; Death rate: 1.9%
In Ukraine - not recorded
* Information with constant updates on LINK
For influenza this winter in the US only:
9.7 million cases of influenza,
87,000 hospitalizations
4800 deaths,
At the same time, 170 million people were vaccinated!
Given that only hospitalized people are counted for coronavirus, we are comparing only hospitalized people in the United States.
Hospitalized to years ratio = 5.6%.
* Information with constant updates on links 1 and 2
* Unfortunately, such statistics are not kept in Ukraine.
There are also some WHO statistics on other diseases around the world:
The mortality rate from Ebola is 40%,
Middle East MERS syndrome - 35%
SARS - 10%,
Diphtheria - 5% (and among preschool children - 20%).
What was found according to statistical data in Ukraine:
For 4 weeks of 2020, 10,920 patients were registered for influenza and ARVI (over the previous week - 9,176), an increase of 19.0%.
* Information about mortality is silent ...
This is where the real cause for alarm is. And based on the level of medicine in the United States and in Ukraine, we can only guess about the percentage of deaths. Not to mention the measles epidemic in our country.

We see clear statistics. But what do we hear and read in the media? Basically, these are loud headlines, the purpose of which is the same - everyone who saw the headline should go to read the article to increase the visit and rating. Considering that one of the main human feelings that influence his choice is fear, accordingly it is necessary to publish the most scary headlines so that the reader is horrified and thinks "what else is there", "we are all going to die", etc. went to the article or listened / watched the news as long as possible. Therefore, we see so many inappropriate headline wording and intimidation around. There are resources that dispel many "myths" and give very correct information. One of them is a video of Dr. Komarovsky, which I accidentally stumbled upon on 02/06/2020 on YouTube (Video here).
Example:
I just came to work, and all the employees tell me: everything is in Italy! Closing cities! People have panic.
So I started to study this issue. Like most users of the world wide web, the first thing I do is go to "oh great google" and see what they give us in the news:
I turn to the article "Coronavirus in Italy led to the fourth death ..."
“An 84-year-old man has died from the coronavirus. Thus, the number of deaths from the coronavirus in Italy has increased to four: in all cases, these are elderly people with a previously exacerbated general clinical picture. "
All infectedin Italy they live in small towns, and at the moment it is being investigated how they could get the virus. For maximum safety, these townships have been closed and residents are being thoroughly screened. Such measures will eliminate the spread of the virus and new infections.
Also, it has been repeatedly reported that only rare cases of diseases of the elderly with chronic diseases of certain directions and, in isolated cases, in middle-aged people with very serious chronic diseases, are fatal.
- At the time of writing this text, a tourist also called me back and said that they were planning to fly to Italy with their family, but because of the news they would choose northern Europe for the trip. We talked, it was nice to understand that our tourist perceives it all as a hype around the news and understands the whole situation. But, unfortunately, I have to change my plans and choose a different direction to "reinsurance".
Also, everyone heard the situation with the Diamond Princess, which led to even greater control of passengers, when registering on board all cruise companies, without exception. Let's take a closer look at the example of an official letter from the cruise company Royal Caribbean International:

Of course, there is a lot of news, and you can endlessly write about this situation, but the main thing is the conclusions:
1. As in most cases, regardless of the coronavirus, we do not recommend traveling for tourists with serious chronic diseases. It will be difficult for you and your companions. But given the situation, we do not recommend, especially to travel for citizens over 70 years old with diseases, especially those related to the respiratory system.
2. Always keep an eye on your hygiene, regardless of the news that surrounds us. There are many more diseases than we think, and without observing the rules of hygiene, we expose ourselves and others to these and other diseases.
3. Analyze all the information and refer to official sources and specialists.
If you adhere to all of the above and the recommendations of a family doctor, then everything will always be fine with your health. And no one will harm your well-deserved rest, because when contacting a travel company for choosing a trip, you should understand that for the manager who selects the tour for you, your health and the most positive rest in every sense of the word are most important!
We wish you good health and the brightest travels!
Best regards, Nikolay Plokhotnyuk and the entire team of For Gates Ukraine.
